Syndicate Report Methodology And Sources

How the numbers in The RacingDatabase.com Syndicate Report: Autumn 2026 were counted, where they come from and what they cannot show.

Who Is Counted

The report covers the 129 syndicates and clubs listed in the RacingDatabase.com directory on 29 October 2026, including racing clubs and lease syndicates. 103 of them can be matched to results by owner name; the other 26 race horses under names we cannot match, or have no horses with a recorded result, so they add nothing to the results figures.

This report counts only the syndicates and clubs currently listed in our directory, the same group as our league tables and winners leaderboard. Syndicates are listed for their own published information, and a syndicate that asks us to remove its listing is removed from the data. Featured and premium listings are labelled and never change a figure or the order of anything in this report.

How Results Are Counted

  • Source: UK and Irish official race results, compiled by RacingDatabase.com, for every day from 1 Jan 2026 to 4 Nov 2026.
  • A run is a horse that was weighed in or officially placed. Non-runners, withdrawn horses and abandoned races are left out. A win is first place; a dead heat counts as a win for each horse.
  • Which syndicate: the owner name on the result is matched to each syndicate with a list of name patterns, the same patterns used on our league tables. Horses owned jointly by two listed syndicates count for each.
  • Flat or Jumps comes from the name of the race (hurdle, chase and bumper races are Jumps).
  • Quarters are calendar quarters: Q1 January to March, Q2 April to June, Q3 July to September. We hold results from 1 January 2026, so Q1 2026 is the first quarter we can cover.
  • All runners: for context we also count every runner and winner in the same results (32,591 runners in 3,533 races in Q3). The all-runner strike rate is simply the number of races divided by the number of runners.
  • Strike rates for single syndicates are shown only from 20 runs in a quarter.

How Prices, Shares And Ticks Are Counted

  • First-year cost is the upfront price plus twelve months of any monthly fee, from the syndicate's own website, read by hand between 19 Oct 2026 and 29 Oct 2026. We only cost a listing when both parts are known, so 28 of 129 listings are costed. Ireland is in euros and is left out of the sterling figures.
  • Price Per 1% is a share's first-year cost divided by the share size in per cent, taken as published (10% is 10, 1 of 4,000 is 0.025%). We never work out a size from a price. Lease shares and clubs are excluded. See Price Per 1% for the full method.
  • Shares on sale come from the Live Shares Feed checked on 26 Oct 2026.
  • Badge policies, RSA membership and "no prize money deduction" are as each syndicate states them.
  • BHA tick: a listing carries the tick when we found a matching entry on the BHA's public register (read 24 Oct 2026). See BHA Register.

What The Numbers Cannot Tell You

  • They are a record of the listed group, not of every syndicate.
  • They are minimums where we cannot match a name.
  • They are not a measure of skill or value: fields, races, horses and fees differ.
  • Prices and shares are a first October 2026 snapshot, with no trend.
  • Small groups (Jumps in summer, Irish listings, listings with a costed first year) move a lot.
  • Prize money, training fees beyond those a syndicate publishes, and sale values are not included.

What We Don't Use

The report uses no tips, odds or betting data, and nothing about how many people visit or sign up to RacingDatabase.com. It does not use paid-listing status to include or exclude anyone.
