Who Can Write A Review
Anyone who is, or has been, a member of a syndicate or racing club listed here, writing about their own experience. One review per person per syndicate: you can update yours rather than write another. You can't review a syndicate you work for, whose owners are family or business partners, or that you compete with. Experience more than five years old isn't published.
How We Check You're A Member
Every reviewer sends proof: a photo or screenshot showing their name, the syndicate's name and a date, such as a welcome email, invoice, share certificate or statement. You can cover bank details and amounts. We check it by hand, then delete the file within 30 days of our decision and keep only a short note of what we checked. Every published review carries a ✓ Verified Member mark because every one has been checked. You also confirm your email address, and tick a declaration that you're a member, independent and unpaid.
What We Publish
Genuine, first-hand reviews of the syndicate or club, positive or negative, in your own words. We publish them on the same timetable whatever they say, usually within 7 days of you confirming, at our next weekly update. We don't change your words. The only edit we make is to remove personal details, and we mark the review when we've done that.
What We Don't Publish
- Fake reviews, reviews written for someone else, or reviews that were paid for, rewarded or swapped.
- Reviews from staff, family or business partners of the people who run the syndicate, or from rivals.
- Other people's personal details, including staff or members named other than by their role (for example "the trainer" is fine).
- Allegations of crime, fraud or unpaid money stated as fact. Describe what happened to you instead. If you think the law has been broken, contact Action Fraud or a solicitor, and take concerns about a horse's welfare to the BHA (or the IHRB in Ireland).
- Abuse, threats, discrimination or swearing.
- Reviews about a different syndicate, about racing in general, or about a legal case that's still going on.
- Links, adverts or anything promoting another business.
If we can't publish a review we tell you why, and you're welcome to change it and send it again.
Reviews And Complaints
A review is for other owners to read. A complaint is for the syndicate to put right. You can do either or both, and we'll never ask you to complain instead of leaving a review.
Invited Reviews
Syndicates that have claimed their listing can send their members a link to write a review here. They must send it to all their members, not just the happy ones. Reviews from that link are labelled "Invited by the syndicate", and they're checked in exactly the same way.
No Incentives
Nobody may pay or reward anyone for a review, including discounts, prize draws or free days out, whether from us or from a syndicate. We don't offer incentives, and reviews we find were rewarded are removed.
Averages And Order
Reviews are shown newest first, and nothing is pinned or featured. Once a listing has 3 or more reviews, we show the average of every published review for each rating. Premium listings, claimed listings and anything a syndicate pays us for make no difference to which reviews are published, their order or the averages.
Replies From Syndicates
A syndicate that has claimed its listing can post one public reply to each review, free. We check replies against the same rules. Syndicates can't edit, hide or delay reviews. If a syndicate tells us a reviewer wasn't a member, we may ask the reviewer to send proof again; the review stays up while we check unless the concern looks serious.
Reporting A Review
If you think a review breaks these rules, or is untrue and harms you, contact us with a link to the review and what's wrong with it. If you say a review is defamatory, please include your name and email address, what you think it means, which parts are inaccurate or opinions not supported by fact, and whether we can pass your name to the reviewer. We acknowledge reports within 48 hours (not counting weekends and bank holidays) and follow the process for website operators in the Defamation Act 2013, which includes telling the reviewer.
Fake Reviews And What Happens
We look for warning signs such as several reviews from one device or address, reused proof and reviews that read like adverts. If a review turns out to be fake, we remove it and won't accept reviews from that person again. If a syndicate was behind fake reviews, we remove them and show a notice on its listing for 12 months saying that we removed reviews that broke our rules. We review how well these checks work at least once a year.
Other Review Sites
Some listings link to their reviews on Trustpilot or Google. We only link to those pages: we don't copy their ratings or reviews, we don't check those reviewers, and they don't count towards our averages.
